Description

In 1944 when the people of Paris jubilantly welcomed their liberators, who cleared the city of the Nazis, one of the columns that marched across the Champs Elyses carried a red banner. It was a column of Soviet partisans who entered the city together with French patriots. All of them prisoners of war who escaped from Nazi concentration and forced labour camps, they became staunch soldiers of the Resistance. Their heroic exploits as members of the army of Resistance in different countries are told in this collections of reminiscences written by Soviet ex-partisans, who were in the Resistance in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Norway and France.
