Description

London 1942. The true horror wasn't from the air or in the streets...it was Underground. As German bombs pummel the city of London during the Blitz, the leaves of autumn begin to fall and so do the victims. A young boy's fascination with the work of a possible local serial killer plunges him into a life-long obsession that ultimately will become a quest for revenge. The story of Autumn is told on a number of levels: a coming of age story, a tale of revenge, a study in obsession, and a post war Gothic horror story. Set in and under London, the main characters are not the victims, or the hero, but the dark labyrinth of the Underground and what terror it could hold. Now, after nine years of autumnal atrocities and Scotland Yard unable to stop the killings, a now grown James Turrell is forced to make a fateful decision and descends into the stygian abyss of the Underground, believing himself fully prepared and ready to confront the object of his obsession. But he isn't, for terror can manifest itself in many forms.

Author Biography

CHRIS DOWS is an educational advisor and academic, having been awarded his Doctorate in English and Creative Writing from Lancaster University in 2007. In addition to this, he has been a writing tutor and published author for over twenty years, with his portfolio ranging from gothic horror graphic novels to Rugrats comics via an unbroken two decade connection with Star Trek. Last year saw the publication of his first novel, 'The Red Path', for Games Workshop's Warhammer 40K franchise and second creator-owned novel, 'Lokomotive', through Amazon. His latest project is a three-part audio drama for Games Workshop, and he continues to develop short stories, novellas and write non-fiction articles for Titan magazines. He lives in Grimsby on the east coast of England with his wife and two children. With writing partner Chris Dows, COLIN CLAYTON produced his first series Autumn in 1995 to considerable critical acclaim and has continued to produce comics ever since. He has written The Searchers for Caliber as well as working on Gary Reed's Deadworld series, and wrote The Disciples for Image. In the UK he has written numerous Future Shocks for Britain's award winning weekly 2000AD as well as ongoing series Bison and Synammon. He has also written for properties such as Rugrats, Looney Tunes, Star Trek, Action Man, Power Rangers, Flash Gordon, Jackie Chan Adventures and others as well as contributing nonfiction work to numerous part works. He is currently working on a number of new projects with several artists. HORUS (Wolfgang Odenthal) perfectly captured the darkly gothic world of 'Autumn' in his stark and startling pencils and inks. A professional artist for over two decades, his work has been featured across Europe and the US with titles such as 'Schattenreich', 'Brennan Moore', 'War of the Worlds' from Caliber Comics, and the critically acclaimed 'Schiller!' Horus swapped pencils and inks for the written word around seven years ago, and has found great success writing his hugely popular 'Ninragon' fantasy book series in his native Germany and beyond. He currently lives near Aachen with his wife and two daughters.
