The recent books are better than the ones Uderzo did on his own, but do not quite capture the spirit of the classic early Asterix books. However, this is partly due to them being written in far different times, with different references to society. “Chariot Race” is a worthy Asterix album, pretty good story, I find the new illustrations just as good as the earlier books. Yes some characters have changed a little, but they did through the first 5 – 6 books anyway. Enjoy! Rejoice that Asterix continues!
