Army Painter has created a wonderful black basecoat. It gives an even, solid coverage with very little effort. It is also one of the best value spray primers that I have come across. The only problem that I've had is that the nozzle is harder to aim then some other brands. Would definitely buy again.

Stopped working after spraying very few models. Can feel heaps of weight in it but no propellant seemed to be left. Annoyingly this occurred during a spray and it spat paint all over everything in an uneven way.
The army painter doesn't disappoint I've managed to perfectly undercoat just over 300 models with a little extra to spare in the can,it has given me amazingly clear and Smooth results definitely giving GW a run for their money.I Would highly recommend to anyone who doesn't want to burn a hole in their pocket with Citadel primers. But only one very minor fault is getting the cap off on first use is a bit hard but other than that it's perfect 5/5 starts for me!
The spray worked well the first time and did as advertised. After cleaning as per instructions and storing for a few months I found that while still nearly full there was no longer any propellent to spray the paint (yes I checked and cleaned thd nozzle). I would be unlikely to buy this or associated spray products.
This is the third can of AP primer that has bulged on the bottom of the can, then it loses pressure. This one has bulged after only 3 months sitting inside.
The spray covers very nicely, leaving a good basecoat that can be painted with other paints. The main drawback is the drying time – the paint stays wet much longer that I would expect.
It's not quite Matt, more satin but the slight shine gives it a darker quality than GW's.
Never used it before very happy, good coverage, solid black great base coat
I use the dropper bottle version of this paint of of an airbrush and its great so I assumed the rattle can variant would be the same. It defiantly is not. Sprays and covers fairly well but comes out satin, bordering gloss finish. Pretty disappointing especially after how good the same paint in a dropper bottle is
I used to use Tamiya primers but had issues, this is fantastic and hasn't caused any issues at all. Great range of colours too. Must have
Maybe this was a dud can but my Matt Black Primer came out very shiny after a fair application. This shiny surface does not take paint well at all causing Army Painter, Citadel and Vallejo to run like dish soap and pool in the valleys and creases of the minis. Applying enough thin coats to remove brush strokes and complete a smooth coat drowns subtle details. If you can get it pay the extra and buy the Citadel Primer.
Easy to use. Great product and provides excellent coverage on your models.
Used for Gamesworkshop minis, greater alternative to the citadel spray but much cheaper.
Good spray. The finish is a nice satin black. Good size can should last for quite a lot of models.
Perfect primer for miniatures. Goes on well and dries nice and smooth. Would recommend this over the white spray.
Works well. Coverage was excellent, and the finish is nice and satin smooth. I compared to a hand priming using their black paint and found I couldn't tell the difference. 100% match indeed!
From what I have used of it, this is much better than the Citadel Primer. I intentionally oversprayed a model and it almost sunk into the plastic – none of the details were obscured.
A good brand for modellers
Sprays on well with better coverage than many other brands. Also better priced than some other manufacturers products.
Great product – the spray is exceptionally fine, adheres cleanly and eveningly in all conditions (some other brands thicken up when its cold and run when its hots). Application results in nice thin but tough coat that doesn't mask any details.
