Author Biography:
Author Octavio Guerra-Royo was born in Havana, Cuba, where he studied Electronics, Linguistics, Literature, Philosophy, Screenwriting and TV Direction. In his country of birth, he worked as an aviation and telephone technician, journalist, translator, proofreader, and editor. He also became a Linguistic and Philosophy professor and wrote screenplays for radio, TV, and movies. However, for not complying with the official ideology, he got finally banned from working in the media and from teaching for life. He has been married to the love of his life for more than three decades, having two beautiful and lovely daughters and a couple of very, very..., very spoiled dogs. After decades of unsuccessful attempts to take his family out of Cuba to give them a future, he finally succeeded happily settling in Miami, Florida. He currently works as a freelance bilingual writer and translator after earning his living as a salesman, warehouse employee, construction worker, and as a garbage man. For more than forty years, he had struggled with a monumental novel. Realizing that no one could ever be able to read it, he took some stories out from it, transforming them into a theological Sci-Fi series of novels, if such genre exists, that mix fantasy, history, mythology, and philosophy. Alongside with his fiction books, he has also worked lengthily in some non-fiction projects about Linguistics, Philosophy, and History. He has auto-published a poetry book in Amazon planning to do the same with a Linguistics book, both in Spanish. A few years ago, after watching an episode of the HBO TV series VICE about Monsanto's GMO world monopoly and its environmental, economic and social effects, he began to write Animalypse for fun. On it, he speculates about the dangers of both, the wrong genetic manipulation of animals and plants by a worldwide monopoly, and the environmentalist extremism.
