Dylan Hunt is the captain of the Andromeda Ascendant, a ship which serves in the military force of the Systems Commonwealth, a monarchy which spans several galaxies. Hunt and his ship are subsequently frozen for several centuries. Revived by a passing salvage ship, Hunt is horrified to find that the Commonwealth has collapsed and all known galaxies have descended into barbarism. Hunt decides to take his ship and crew on a trip around the cosmos to attempt to restore order to the known galaxies.

Last Call at the Broken Hammer
Dylan leads Tyr, Beka and Trance on a search for Isabella Ortiz, a once great leader who would be a great ally in the reformation of the Systems Commonwealth. They head to the desert mining planet of Svorog's Anvil to search for her and end up in the Broken Hammer Bar, where they become trapped in a tense siege situation when Kalderan warriors attack.

All Too Human
Dylan prepares to do battle with evil Basilisk forces in defence of the fledgling Mobius Democracy. Rommie meets an informer on Machen Alpha to discover more about the Machenite attack and learns that her agent allies are prejudiced towards A.I.s when her cover is blown. But there's no one left to rescue her with Andromeda protecting Mobius and a damaged Eureka Maru sinking in one of Machen Alpha's oceans.
