Students of antiquity often see ancient Turkey as a bewildering array of cultural complexes. Ancient Turkey is a much needed resource for students and scholars, providing an up-to-date account of the widespread and extensive archaeological activity in Turkey. Covering the entire span before the Classical period, fully illustrated with over 160 images and written in lively prose, this text will be enjoyed by anyone interested in the archaeology and early history of Turkey and the ancient Near East.

Author Biography:

Antonio Sagona, Professor of Archaeology at the University of Melbourne. He is an elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (London) and the Australian Academy of Humanities, and has carried out fieldwork in Turkey, the Caucasus, Syria, and Australia. Paul Zimansky, Professor of Archaeology and Ancient History at the State University of New York, Stony Brook. He has excavated in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey. His academic specialties are Hittite and Urartian cultures, early cities, and the archaeology of writing.
