This novel directly follows the first one: A Voice in the Wind.
The reader gets to explore a whole new aspect to the characters they knew from the first novel. Rivers manages to bring about realistic change to the characters and mould them into their own shapes through the circumstances placed upon them.
Not only so, but the author introduces new characters – some which are pleasant and some which are not.
The plot remains as vivid as the first novel, but carries a different meaning as Christianity is inserted quite differently in this novel.
I admired Rivers's execution of Marcus's search for faith. I found it very well written and very truthful.
There is the perfect mix of suspense and motion in this second novel and IÂ commend Rivers for not letting down the expectations of her audience.
