"Best 'realistic' knitted toy book ever!"
5 stars"

I knitted the Angler fish, and whilst challenged by the prospect of knitting with four needles, most of this toy was knitted on the more familiar two needle technique. For knitters put off by using four needles, you can achieve similar results with two needles – you just need to be careful with your sewing.

The instructions are fairly easy to follow and the various photographs are brilliant – you can see where you're going wrong! You don't need great amounts of yarn and stuffing, so the toys are economical to make.

The various critters are so cute – except for the spider, which is a little too realistic for my liking. This is a brilliant knitting book for anyone who enjoys knitting toys. They make great gifts too.

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. Typically they are kooky little animals but they can also be inanimate objects, like vegetables, that are given faces and limbs. This book will have 20 designs, including animals and inanimate objects. There is a knitting basics section that will provide instructions for all the techniques needed to make the projects.

Author Biography

Hansigurumi, a shop she opened on Etsy for selling her amigurumi patterns, caught the attention (and needles!) of knitters in the US and abroad, and became an overnight success and has been hailed "an amazing up and coming crafter" by CRAFT magazine.
