Description

'AMARU COOKS - A Touch Of Suriname Through Food & Anecdotes' (2nd. edition) is an introduction to the Surinamese cuisine by recording artist and actor AMARU. From savory to sweet and much else in between, this cookbook will give you a head start in preparing your first or next Surinamese meal!

Author Biography:

Born and raised in the Republic of Suriname, South America and making his debut as an author with this cookbook, award-winning international independent recording artist and actor AMARU has always had an interest in cooking. Fueled by the culinary skills of his mother and grandmother predominantly, he recalls cooking his first complete meal at the age of eleven. AMARU is also a trained actor and he has starred in (international) television commercials and print ads, among others. His acting resume spans many years and he is still active as an actor to this day. In 2018 he released his debut album 'Champagne Attitude', a lifelong dream to come true. AMARU wrote, produced and sang all the vocals on the 20-track award winning album. As creative as he is as an actor, a singer and a lyricist, he is also a published photographer, having some of his work published in various American publications. Food photography is something that AMARU has done since 2009 and the photographs in this book are all from his hands! AMARU's native country is the smallest on the South American continent and rather unknown to many. This book is an introduction to the very diverse Surinamese cuisine and while AMARU could have selected all the popular dishes from his homeland, which call for certain ingredients, mostly innate to Suriname, he chose to select recipes that call for ingredients that are available in most countries. After all, when one purchases a cookbook, one would want to try to cook the recipes in said cookbook, correct? Currently AMARU resides in The Netherlands and videos of many of his recipes are available on his very successful culinary web series 'Food & The Single Guy' on Youtube. More about AMARU is available on his officially endorsed websites www.amaru.nl or www.amaru-music.com. Links to officially endorsed social media pages and profiles are also available on aforementioned websites. (Second edition - 2022)
