Description

We have chosen to add another source of information because we perceived a gap in the information that is currently available and a way in which to ensure that readers will have one website or frequently updated text to consult regarding the major aspects of Alzheimer's Disease (AD): diagnosis, pathogenesis, current management, and future approaches to prevention as well as treatment. This text is not a basic introduction, so it assumes some degree of knowledge about AD on the part of the reader. By setting our discussion at this level, it allows us to keep readers informed of evidence-based developments in the field. We think that our text will always have a comprehensive and current bibliography for individuals who are newly entering the field of AD studies, either as clinicians, researchers, or individuals with industrial interests, as well as seasoned investigators. Although we focus on evidence-based approaches rather than on opinions, we hope that our book is useful to informed members of the public as well as to doctors and scientists. We want to balance optimism and hopefulness against the very significant challenges of understanding and treating this illness.
