Excerpt from Abstract of the District Attorneys' Reports: March 2, 1849 Upon the application of the Governor, the Attorney reports that he has given thirty written opinions relative to the arrest of fugitives from justice. He has also given written and oral opinions to, and drawn up legal papers for, the Treasurer, and Adjutant General of the Commonwealth, and the Superintend ent of Alien Passengers. The Attorney reports, that he has paid over, to the Treasurer of the Commonwealth, thirteen hundred and forty-four T6615 dol lars, collected from the penalties of recognizances, and that, the Sheriff of Suffolk has paid to the County Treasurer, in 1848, fourteen thousand six hundred and thirty-three film dollars for fines and costs received by him in the Municipal Court of the City of Boston.
