Excerpt from A Sermon Preach'd Before the Honourable the House of Commons at St. Margaret's Westminster, on Friday the 4th of April, 1701: Being the Day of Publick Fast and Humiliation Home That where-ever we are difpers'd, and at prefent Refide, we (till belong to another Place, and have the Honour and Happinels to be entttuled to the Rights and Privileges of a better Country: That we Chrirlt'ians are now the immediate subjeets of the heavenlyking, and that hereafter we fhall be tran {lated to tbecapital Seat of his Empire, refcued from all our prefent Difirelles; and pollefs'd of that Glo rious Happy fibre to which we are bid to afpire That he therefore accounted a thing: here hut ac Loft and Dung, if 6; my prelim he might attain the Refor reefian or the Dead; prefing on towards that Markand looking for the Lord, who [horrid change our now vvile Body, and remove it from this vile Aboad, that it ma; he like rmto hit Gloriow Body, and fitted Ef'the Glories of its Eternal Refidence. The Freedom of it was highly valued, and the Chief Captain had abrain'd it with great 81mm. It was fome Safegard in Foreign Empires, but a fine Prorefiifm in the Roman World as the Magi/l to: and S crgearrt: of this City Philippi were put we know in a great fright, for having vio lated that Privilege'in the perfon of our Apofile.
