Description

Excerpt from A Narrative of the Suppression by Col. Burr, of the History of the Administration of John Adams, Late President of the United States The present moment is peculiarly auspicious to an investigation of whatever surmises unfriendly to M r. Burr may have gone abroad. Our annual election is over; the press is free as air; and uni versal placidness reigns over the nation. Under these Circumstances, he invites investigation, that if he be mistaken in his Opinions of the views of the vice-president, they may be corrected by argu ments and by facts. When this shall have been done, he promises with much sincerity and truth, to give to Mr. Burr a most cordial support. On the other hand, should these Opinions, by an ample examination of his views, be confirmed, M r. Burr shall meet with an Opponent in the author, corn mensurate with his talents and his leisure.
