Description

"A History of Markeaton and Mackworth" is an updated edition of the 1987 local best-seller that brings together the background and historical development of these two areas in Derby, which began as small hamlets and have developed into the successful suburbs that we see today. Over 150 archive photographs are included that help tell the stories of the two areas. Areas covered within the book include a full history of Markeaton Village, Church and Hall with specific mention of the families that owned the manor. The history of Mackworth is also studied in the same detail with chapters on Mackworth Village, the church and the church field, as well as specific mention of the de Mackworth and Mundy families that helped shape the development of the village.
