Wild
Wild is a 2014 American biographical drama movie starring Reese Witherspoon,
written by Nick Hornby, and based on Cheryl Strayed's 2012 memoir Wild: From
Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail.
A chronicle of one woman's 1,100-mile solo hike undertaken as a way to
recover from a recent catastrophe.
After years of reckless behaviour, a heroin addiction and the destruction of
her marriage, Cheryl Strayed makes a rash decision. Haunted by memories of her
mother Bobbi and with absolutely no experience, she sets out to hike more than a
thousand miles on the Pacific Crest Trail all on her own. This film powerfully
reveals her terrors and pleasures –as she forges ahead on a journey that
maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.
Wild opened to positive critical reviews, with much praise going toward the
performances of Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. Both actresses received
Academy Award nominations for their performances.
