The Rogers Sisters return with a brand new single and album. This single, ‘Why Won't You’, is being released just ahead of the album on August 21st, it's also complimented by another inventive video from the ever-excellent director, Rob Hall. The album finally lands in the UK on September 11th 2006.

Comprising of sisters Jennifer (vocals, guitar) and Laura Rogers (drums, backing vocals) as well as Miyuki Furtado (vocals, bass and honourary member of the Rogers clan), The Rogers Sisters are hard to pin down. You can certainly hear that they were brought up on, and able to draw from, a rich diet of influences – Prince, ESG, Talking Heads, 80's US stadium rock. to name just a few – but that doesn't take away from the originality of their music and their ability to pen killer tunes. Crucially, they also sound like they're having fun and that becomes even more apparent when caught live.

Their new album, ‘The Invisible Deck’, is their debut for Too Pure and comes third in line after their mini-album, ‘Three Fingers’, and their hard-to-find ‘Purely Evil’ (complete with George Bush cover artwork – natch!) debut. It's a big leap forward from those recordings with confidence riding high in the camp; in fact, it's the album they've been long threatening to make.

Bereft of the punctuation mark that would make it a proper question, ‘Why Won't You’ is The Rogers Sisters debut release for Too Pure and sees them brewing up a viscous blend of punk sensibilities, heavy-lidded rhythms and all manner of addictive melodies. Veritably bursting with gusto and stainless steel vim, ‘Why Won't You’ is a reedy stab of funk-frayed guitars and almost Bobby Conn-esque vocals – giving rise to comparisons that straddle both ESG and Talking Heads, all fed through a 1970's AM radio. Far more appealing than that description may have you thinking, the back delves further into the groove through the par-boiled delights of ‘Sooner Or Later’. Sibling!
