"Atrocious interpretation"
1 stars"

I honestly had to stop halfway through this movie due to how terrible it is.

I know some people may like this, but they are usually those who have not seen the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. This film more than pales in comparison to the series.

Save yourself the pain and watch the series – it's well done, clever, and explores the story far better than this film.

"Impressive effects, but let down by bad editing"
3 stars"

I'm a huge fan of Nickelodeon's Avatar: the Last Airbender series and when I heard M Night was directing the movie, I cringed. Despite the negative reviews, I gave the movie a go. It wasn't as bad as I expected. The special effects were impressive and the children did a good job acting (except for Jackson Rathbone who didn't do Sokka's character justice) There were some bits I wasn't sure of, but in my view it's the editing that let the movie down. It could have been 10 times better if they had paid more attention to scene transitions.

All in all, it is an enjoyable and entertaining movie for kids. Personally for me, I much prefer the original animated series. If M Night ever turns the Earth and Fire books into films, I only hope he treats them with extra care and respect because the story and characters are so complex, they need to be given a chance to shine.

"totally unfinished"

This is a good family movie and pleasurable to watch except just when you are getting enthralled with the story it ends and just leaves you thinking is that it.

The movie does have a good story line and is easy to follow, the special effects are awesome but there is something lacking in the uncompleted story.
