Iris is a rich, well-connected young woman spending her summer in Europe with friends. Boarding a train in Italy, Iris develops a rapport with an affable older lady, Miss Froy, one of the fellow travelers in her train compartment. But when Miss Froy suddenly disappears without a trace, Iris is frantic - and nobody on the train believes she even existed! In desperation, Iris turns to Gilbert to discover Miss Froy's fate...
