"Fantastic book if you enjoy reading about Ancient Egypt"

This would be a hugely important addition to any bookcase for any aspiring Egyptologists or anyone who enjoys reading about the enigma that is Ancient Egypt.

The clarity and detail in the photos of the papyrus are phenomenal, especially given its age. Without a doubt, The Egyptian Book of the Dead is one of the most important texts to emerge from the Old Kingdom's Pyramid and Coffin Texts.

Sir E.A. Wallis Budge may have indeed courted controversy throughout his lifetime, and cutting the papyrus up into so many pieces certainly didn't help his reputation, however saving the Papyrus of Ani has ensured his place in history.

Description

This 20th anniversary edition of The Egyptian Book of the Dead, a seminal work and a perennial favorite, features a newly designed cover and 16 pages of all-new content that analyzes the progress in modern Egyptology. Inside the book, the legendary 3,500-year-old Papyrus of Ani—the most beautiful of the ornately illustrated Egyptian funerary scrolls ever discovered—is restored in its original sequences of text and artwork. Four exquisitely illustrated gatefold spreads and an acclaimed translation by a noted Egyptologist showcase the Papyrus's elaborately bordered images.
