I bought this as a collector, wanting to add it to his collection while on special. When I held the case, I saw the awards gracing the cover, and knew I was in for a treat. “Best animated film, Japan Academy Prize 2010. Best animated film, Fantasia Film Festival 2010. Best animated film, Sitges Film Festival 2010. Animation of the Year, Tokyo Anime Awards, 2010. Best animated film, Mainichi Film Concours, 2010.” Everything felt perfect in this film; progression, animation, character depth, and the range of emotions it brings forth is noteworthy. It's humourous; yet almost brought me to tears. It's heartwarming; yet thrilling. There really isn't much I can say, other than this. Summer Wars is the only film I have ever watched twice in one day. It's just that good. Don't delay picking up a copy yourself.
