Lovely addition to the farm collection, as always great quaility.
I'd already purchased the hen & chicks (HIGHLY recommend that pairing) for farm play. The rooster had been on wishlist but I purchased it promptly after youngest child was confused by difference between hen & rooster in books (no confusion in real life, oddly). The scale of Scheich rooster compared to hen is realistic and emphasises that hens have combs & wattles too, but smaller. The colours are bold but not tacky. Fine feather detail as expected from Scheich.
As omnivores, chickens eat insects, seeds, and even mice and lizards.
Throughout a three week long incubation, hens incubate and rotate their eggs,
fertilized or not. Living up to a decade, chickens generally stay on land but
have been known to fly in short bursts. As a flock, chickens abide by a pecking
order.
Fun Fact: Internationally, there are more chickens than any other fowl.
Schleich products are developed with the assistance of parents, teachers and children and are therefore especially designed for children’s hands. The design of Schleich products is as realistic and naturalistic as possible. This enables children to experience the large variety of nature – from domestic animals on a farm to wild animals in the jungle.
