CSS, short for Cansei de Ser Sexy, haven’t wearied of expertly constructed, endearingly hook-filled electro-funk.
The Brazilian group, whose full name translates to “tired of being sexy,” will release their new, Dave Sitekproduced album Planta in NZ on July 5th.
The first track from the follow-up to 2011Js La Liberación is “Hangover,” which uses spaciously dubby horns, fuzzed-out guitars, and bloopy synths to make the post-breakup blues sound as festive as a boozy weekend outing. “Let’s get happy, drinkin’ Bloody Mary,” CSS chirp. The upcoming record also happens to be CSS’ first since the departure of multi-instrumentalist Adriano Cintra. It’s ladies’ night, oh what a night.
