You need to download the dockstudio app (free), and this needs to be running all the time you're playing through the speaker. Fidelio and Songbird apps mentioned no longer exist. If you just plug it into the usb socket it will charge, but not play through the speaker. So it's working via bluetooth the whole time. As this is my bedside alarm clock, I'm a bit unhappy about this (not sure about health implications of bluetooth pinging round me all night)
However, that aside, it has a good sound. Dockstudio is a bit puzzling, and appears to have the facility to select music from your phone to play for the alarm tone. This did not work however – all I could get it to do was a tweety bird alarm, it would not play my music for an alarm. But I set an alarm on Pandora, and this played via dockstudio fine. Pandora doesn't have to be running – it wakes itself up!
I'd been waiting a long time for an android speaker-alarm-clock, something I think would be a very popular item – I want to be able to wake up to music of my choice. Is that so outlandish- I don't want to be locked into the apple hegemony either. This product is only half the way there.
