Music in Exile is the debut album by Timbuktu indie band, Songhoy Blues – formed in reaction to the jihadist occupation in Mali. The album was produced by Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist, Nick Zinner and Marc-Antoine Moreau and mixed at Damon Albarn’s studio in London. Songhoy Blues have previously been a part of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express project alongside Brian Eno, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner, members of Metronomy and Django Django.
Songhoy Blues are four talented, hungry, sharp and outward-looking young men from a part of the world that has had more than its share and pain and conflict in recent years. Recently the band has supported Damon Albarn at the Royal Albert Hall at the end of 2014 and toured in the European Summer of 2014 culminating in a performance at WOMAD Festival.
