Author Biography

ELOISE WILKIN (1904-1987) is one of the most beloved and prolific Golden Books illustrators. To many, her work embodies "that Little Golden Book feeling" as well as a certain time in America. Wilkin's loving depiction of the natural world, and her paintings of cherubic children, helped make Golden Books an icon. Her Little Golden Books My Little Golden Book About God and Prayers for Children have never been out of print. TIBOR GERGELY (1900-1978) immigrated to the US from Hungary in 1939 and illustrated more than 70 Golden Books. With crisp detail and vibrant color, he brought some of the most beloved Golden characters to life, including Scuffy the Tugboat, The Little Red Caboose, and Tootle.
