"A revelation in Blu-Ray"
5 stars"

There are some movies that fail to impress at the cinema, or in standard definition, but carry new authority in hi-def. This is just such a movie.

Alex Proyas fans (remember Dark City?) were doubtless hoping for more than the generic action flick I, Robot eventually becomes. But Proyas' trademark visual flair is well represented in the film's design, and is beautifully served by this transfer, arguably the best of the last year. Watching it – and hearing it, too (great lossless audio) – is a richly cinematic experience, and real compensation for the film's flaws.

Highly recommended.

"YOU GOTTA BUY THIS ONE "

Will Smith + sci fi is a great combo as always . A bigot who hates robots , but not for long . Its not the robot thats dangerous , its their creator . Intelligent , witty , highly entertaining and great sci fi .

"An enjoyable action film with a good story"

I saw this a few times as a kid and really liked it. Now that I'm older I can spot the flaws and see how bored Will Smith is, but Shia LaMeme is great and honestly it's just a fun, intriguing action movie with a hint of sci-fi.

Description

I, Robot

In 2035, highly intelligent robots fill public service positions throughout the world, operating under three rules to keep humans safe. Despite his dark history with robotics, Detective Del Spooner (Will Smith) investigates the alleged suicide of U.S. Robotics founder Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell) and believes that a human-like robot (Alan Tudyk) murdered him. With the help of a robot expert (Bridget Moynahan), Spooner discovers a conspiracy that may enslave the human race.

Critic Reviews:

  • " He excels in creating alternative worlds and the one here sustains the film, with a pristine beauty that's attractive and slightly sinister. " – Paul Byrnes
  • " The way in which the robots acrobatically leap about, as if immune to the effects of gravity, is the main offender. " – Mike Massie
  • " Some stirring action sequences and a fascinating futuristic setting keeps things entertaining, even if this loose adaptation of the Isaac Asimov doesn't always take the most original approach possible. " – Leigh Paatsch
