This alarm clock is a good size Dalek, just larger than a DVD jewel case in height, and nicely fits on top of back to back seasons 1 through 4 of the new Doctor Who DVD box sets (the stalk, and gun stick over the edge)
The underside blue lights look great when on in the dark (although I dont remember seeing blue under a Dalek), and the voice indicator lights flash white when it makes sound (any of the sounds).
The blue projection light looks cool on the ceiling when in the dark, although maybe hard to read if not close by. Obviously when the lights are on it is just about impossible to see. Of note is that the projection light is only on when the Dalek is active. An LCD is also available with the time on it.
The sounds are the obvious ‘Exterminate’ and two forms of space ship / engine sounds. By themselves only the ‘Exterminate’ sounds good, but when combined together for the alarm sequence they sound great. A demo button plays a random one of the three sounds.
Unless the snooze button is hit the alarm clock sequence only plays three times in a row and then stops until the following day. If it takes you a while to wake up you wont get a second chance unless you hit Snooze.
Overall, this is great for sitting on top of the DVD collection with the alarm set for amusement, but possibly not as the reminder to wake up before catching your TARDIS flight.
- Notes
- It requires 4 AA batteries, which are included
- The gun, stalk, and eye are all fixed in the same direction
- The date is also set, although only for display purposes (MM/DD format)
