In the second season, nine months have passed and the Earth Republic has taken over Defiance and appointed smarmy Niles Pottinger (Jim Murray) as mayor; at the same time, Amanda (Julie Benz) has become addicted to Adreno and is now running the NeedWant in the wake of her sister's death; and Datak (Tony Curran) is in prison, giving his wife Stahma (Jaime Murray) the perfect opportunity to become the new boss of her family's criminal empire. Meanwhile, Nolan (Grant Bowler) reunites with his daughter Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas) unaware Irzu has taken control of her and is causing her to murder seemingly random people. She wants to tell her dad, but she's afraid the truth will get him killed. She also learns she has competition when it comes to Tommy (Dewshane Williams), who, when Irisa ran away, started dating a soldier named Berlin (Anna Hopkins). And another love triangle seems to be brewing when a DJ named Treasure Doll (Kristina Pesic) takes an interest in Alak (Jesse Rath), despite the news that his wife Christie (Nicole Muñoz) is pregnant with their first child. Linda Hamilton (“The Terminator”) joins the cast in Episode 10 as Pilar, the long-separated wife of Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene).
