I picked up my first Christine Feehan book about a month ago now starting with Dark Prince. I'd never read a paranormal romance before. The first chapter of each of the books I'd read so far really grabs at you straight away, and Dark Challenge is no different. I like the anticipation of the romance or fight scenes that's being played out and then the all out no holds barred of the climax of a scene. Dark Challenge although centralised around Julian (Capathian male) and Desari (Capathian female) and their story was very strong, I just wanted the book to extend beyond were it left off. I found some of the story telling repetitive, those parts I just skimmed over. There are alot of steamy scene writing which added strength to the characters and I feel reinforced what the secondary characters were lacking or should I say not yet experienced. I don't think you could ever call Darius (Carpathian male and leader) a seconday character either. I enjoyed this book, the author brings in new characters who scream for their own stories to be told and can't wait to read the next book Dark Fire (Darius's story)…
