"Awesome game"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

after playing 2k's other game boarderlands “I was internalizing a complex situation in my head” nah jokes…

boarderland also by 2k was an amazing game, however, i was looking for something different, as boarderland is quest driven and lots of traveling around to do in the game, you really only get the value of the game from co-op.

While bioshock 2 is also a shooter, the story was great, though many have stated 1 had better story, but since i never played 1… The graphic is amazing in this game, but i guess all games these days have amazing graphics…

I can see many, MANY, similarities from these two games. but bioshock 2 makes you feel like you have a goal, there is a purpose, there are routes to follow, instead of oh 1 quest done, 100 more to go, now just gotta drive 10 miles…

Overall bioshock 2 is fun, interesting, and … thats about it, but its enough to call it a great game!

"EPIC shooter"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Having played Bioshock on Xbox, the minute I saw this game on sale I hit buy!

And boy was I glad I did. This game was EPIC from the very outset. The graphics are fantastic, the sound effects are superb and the storyline is riveting from start to finish!

I remember during the first game, longing to have the armour of a Big Daddy, well Bioshock 2 offers exactly that – in this one you play as a Big Daddy and your goal is to rescue the little sister that you were bonded to, named Eleanor.

Throughout the game you find information about exactly what went down in Rapture and how you came to be in your current situation. This game has all the same shop/upgrade centres anyone familiar with the first game will be accustomed to, however there are a range of new weapons, plasmids and tonics to help you (and believe me you will need them!)

For me one of the most memorable moment was my first encounter with a new type of enemy – the Big Sister. Think Big Daddy but twice as agile and equipped with a range of different types of attacks. Also adding to the gaming experience was the fact that before being attacked by one of these you would hear a high-pitched screaming noise alerting you to the fact that you were about to come face to face with one of these bad b#tches!

As with the first game, you have to make decisions and be aware that there are consequences to your decisions, harvest a little sister to get max Adam or save her and get less.

The levels are highly detailed and with the new weaponary it's fun to see the kind of destruction that can be released on your foes. The levels are highly interactive, with pools of water and oil found all over the place, making using electricity and fire plasmids extremely effective.

Another great feature of the game is the research mode, where you use a video camera to record the effects of various weapon and plasmid combinations on your enemies to unlock bonuses.

It is definitely one of the greatest shooters I have played to date.

Overall this is a fantastic game and having finished it I can definitely say I will be playing it again just so I can try doing everything differently.

Happy gaming

"Not as good as Bioshock 1"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

While a welcome return to the city under the sea the more of the same but with different names makes for a expansion pack feel rather than a fresh approach.

Description

BioShock 2 provides a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, you assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock…

Review by IGN

"It's going to be a familiar experience for anyone that played the original, but BioShock 2's improvements to gameplay and its more focused storyline make for a game that's more playable and easier to digest. Some of the sense of awe and mystery is lost in transition, but the strength of the setting and more interesting implementation of moral choice make for an experience that's more consistent and rewarding.

Anyone looking for a first-person shooter that offers more than flat, stereotypical characters and copy-and-paste supersoldier plots, one that attempts to establish a sense of right and wrong and loops you into the decision making process, and one that's set in one of the most vividly realized settings around should pick up BioShock 2. It's a game in which story, setting, and gameplay are expertly blended to create an experience that's as thought-provoking as it is entertaining." 9.1/10
