After the death of wife Laura, George Turner made the very big call to move his family from Sydney to the small New Zealand seaside town of Weld. He wanted his kids, Shay and Arlo, to have a fresh start to heal and to find a new love of life in the beautiful place he had loved as a child. This did not go according to plan, and in the second series of 800 Words George is batting to reunite his splintered family.
Australias favourite TV dad Erik Thomson (Packed To The Rafters) returns to his Logie Award-winning role as George Turner, an 800-word newspaper columnist who has uprooted his comfortable life in Sydney and moved to the small, quirky New Zealand town of Weld, following the tragic death of his wife. Averaging 2 million viewers nationally for its first season in 2015, 800 Words is funny, heartwarming and dramatic, and also features a stellar ensemble cast including Bridie Carter (McLeods Daughters), Emma Leonard (Home & Away), Rick Donald (Friends With Better Lives) and acclaimed newcomers Benson Jack Anthony and Melina Vidler, who won a Logie for most outstanding new talent.
