Well I am on the verge of completing the first round of clocking this latest edition into the world-wide highly acclaimed RE:5, before taking another lap or 2 enjoying everything and exploiting all the good's along the way after this first time around. But here's more hand's-on input if your holding off still on buying this action packed game.
The positive's
- The graphic's are a given that anybody who was eagerly awaiting this release of RE:5 were looking for something eye-candy and captivating. Well you will not be disappointed it reachs all expectation's of it.The character apperance and expressions as well as enviroment are trully inspiring and seriously does draw you into the game to appreciate it more as it does cause you to feel like your living out a fantasy come true.Cut-scene's and gameplay differentiate at all? As far as I can see there is zero difference, which this in itself should indicate to you that your in for one heck of a treat! Realism never got this much closer to your finger tip's to indulge and enjoy :)
- The Sound/Audio/Voice over's
I really liked it, the moment's where you'd get a cut-scene to the ingame assorted banter and command's you can hear all accumulate and engage your sense of wanting more, wanting to know where this next door goes or where that next staircase lead's.The enviroment and the inhabitant's surrounding it, every noise, motion is finely tuned to make it sound realistic by ear, again contributing to sucking you into the fantasy!
The mystery and storyline is greatly boosted by a cast that do a great job that really is becoming of RE:5 I diden't for one moment feel disillusioned to a corny line or overly try hard and out of place/context voice-over. It really does feel like your completely hypnotised to live and play out a movie which is of stellar blockbuster quality.
- Gameplay/Longeivity-
Okay i havent really come back to Resident Evil series since back in Sacred Heart College with my mate who introduced me briefly to RE:1 and 2 which i skimmed and barely got into year's ago. However my partner recently got us into RE:4 on the PS2 and so I was intrigued by this latest edition. I pre-ordered and on release ive been playing it hardout for 2 day's and nearly clocked it, which is another clear tick in your box to purchase this game :P. But back on track here. The action is just intense and on the edge of your seat shocking and a blast of fun at the sametime. The infected native's and inhabitants of the region really do come at you with anything from their bare fist's to hurling crossbow arrow's on fire as well as controlling turret's!! (Yes thats right they can even drive and navigate motorboat's, motorbikes etc). The AI as well as gameplay does adopt that of RE:4 (pro or con? take it as you will). Therefore dont expect them to just stand there point blank for you to reload!! Puzzle's are easy going and not hard to figure out, map and enviroment are gorgeously set out and vast yet easily guided and navigated through for you to get from point A to B. The newest edition of Sheeva (your partner throughout the game) is very very neat!!! She heal's, she shoot's, and she assist's with co-op action's, a very innovative move from capcom this time around. The boss battle's are heart pounding however yet again you'll be able to manneovere a strategy which is easily accessed from your enviroment to counter and defeat each boss battle so all N all capcom have made RE:5 entertaining, stimulating and accessible really to all level's of RPG gamer's, your never short of ammo as well to guide you along your way.
Do I feel that I can honestly tell you that this game will last forever and a day? I wouldnt go that far but ill tell you from impulse you'll want to play it at least a few times round all over again so its got some milage on it for sure hardout.
The negative's:
- Well sad to say it but not being able to MOVE while you reload, shoot, navigate through inventory which this addition adopt's a Real-Time Inventory, while in gameplay is irritable at time's and enable's you to be prone to your enviroment. You may find yourself engaged in mass mob's of native infected occupant's charging at you ready to rip you limb from limb from all directions and yet you have to take time-out to load and/or check your inventory? You are completely immobilised while doing so and the action is continuous so you can find yourself in life threatening situations at any point during these crucial occasions.
- More into the failure in another aspect of the Inventory itself, This was a real let down for me and as you will experience you therefore acquiring weapon's etc along the way is a hinderance. You can imagine getting herb's, ammo, vest's , as well as weapons in a 3×3 inventory can cause strain? Even though you can trade with your partner (Sheeva) back and forth, regardless the small tiny window of inventory is a real let down and will cause annoyance when you want that extra red+green herb combination laying around but have to give up ammunition as a resolution towards it? -_-"
- The last fumbling hurdle here is the double-edge of having Sheeva as your partner throughout the storyline. If your a team player you'll constantly find yourself giving her ammunition!!! She will shoot anything that move's almost which is not very helpful considering she's supposed to play support for you and your fight for survival against harsh infected native's isnt very favourable. If you are stingy hardout and give her nothing, well that can momentarily remedy this issue however her life will be constantly at risk therefore if she die's you fail. So either way this particular facet of her introduction in RE:5 is a big thumb's down. But the final outcome i figured out to put a quick-fix on it is initially always spamming the circle button and making her come to you like a pet dog ? Ta-dah trigger happy Sheeva negated v_v. Overall pro or con depending on the type of RPG gamer you are v_v
Apart from that I am fully convinced that this latest edition to RE:5 serie's was fantastic!!! It's worth getting for both veteran and newcomers of the Resident Evil Franchise, I know im now one of them :). Buy this game if your really into Role playing a great eye candy product and action packed storyline gameplay that will surely captivate you from start to finish! =^,^=
