Description

Robert Barber's poems are very well accompanied by Noemie Coignus' illustrations in an indissolubly synchronous mix. 24 intertwined poems tell the story of a lover who feels lonely after a break-up and sets off in search of his origins as an escape from his despair. The lovers had taken refuge on an island and experienced love with intensity, but that same intensity turns against them and one of them leaves the island, disappearing without a word. Loneliness and isolation lead to the shipwrecked lover to despair. Leaving the island and sailing adrift will be the only way to resume the course of his life. The shipwrecked lover, sailing in a fragile boat, faces a tough, solitary journey during which he relives his memories. In the words of Robert Barber, ""24 hours: return to homeland" is not a typical book of poetry. It is as much a self-gift of reflection and remembrance, as it is a poetic bomb for those who have made us suffer in the past.
