Description

213 THE GANG PROJECT is a powerful, moving documentary film that dramatically captures the highs and horrors of Los Angeles’ infamous Gang culture – Black, White and Brown – behind prison bars and in the streets of L.A.

The truth about Gangs as never seen before. Their art, music, language, fashion and loyalty is interwoven with drugs, vengeance and violence. Gangs, their mentality and their influence, are never far away from the everyday lives of mainstream Americans.

“213” is the telephone area code for central Los Angeles and is used by gang members to identify their territory. Across this sometimes glamorous, sometimes ugly city, 213 presents the crimes, loves, hopes and dreams of some of L.A.’s most notorious gang members. Zone is an OG (Original Gangsta) for the Bloods, rolling the good life with his many women while combating police who want to put him away for good. Chako is a high ranking member of the 18th Street Gang and a successful drug dealer with his wife Puppet until he crosses the powerful Mexican Mafia. Grumpy is a shot caller for the Nazi Low Rider gang, committed to fighting his war on other races with The Aryan Princess, but suffering from crippling combat wounds and an addiction to methamphetamines. Mr. Cholo dedicates his life to sex, drugs and violence while pursuing a college education. Their stories are interwoven with those of Devil Face (Crip), Bandit (Villa Boyz) and Jim Runion (Skinhead) to reveal L.A. gang life as it really happens.
