This card will work fine if you're close to your router, in my old flat I was about 3m away and separated by a single wall. It worked great. At my next house I'm about 8m away, and there's a few brick walls in the way. It gets 2–3 bars, but speeds of about 0.2 Mbps. I ended up having to use my Macbook for wifi, and then share it with my desktop via ethernet to get proper speeds.
Absolutely fantastic card. Reading a few reviews it seemed generally good, however people did have occasional issues with it which made me a little cautious about getting it. I figured at only $30 it wouldn't be a huge loss if it didn't perform well. However it's exceeded my expectations. Speeds are maxed out where possible without any disconnections yet. Highly recommended!
I've been using this for a month or so, my laptop gets full bars in the same spot. This gets 1–2 bars and occasionally disconnects, but if I turn my desktop 90 degrees I get 3 bars which is still pretty bad. I wouldn't recommend but if your just using it for streaming videos, and normal browsing then this will be fine.
