We had the pleasure of hosting MasterChef winner Chelsea
Winter last night at Mighty Ape HQ for a live
chat on our Facebook page. We gave Mighty Ape customers the opportunity to
ask Chelsea mostly foodie questions. She happily shared her knowledge of food
and cooking, and life in general.
Here are are a few questions and answers from the live chat…
Q. If you were starting a herb garden off for the first time in order
to use in cooking, but only had really limited space, what herbs would you
suggest prioritising?
A. Parsley, thyme, rosemary x
Q. What did your parents do to help you when you were a child, to get
you into cooking and at what age?
A. They never forced me, I just learned by watching and helping – and
I learned heaps although I never really realised that until later!

Recreation brought us the day to beat all other days. Once a year they spend
the entire day treating themselves – there are no excuses not to buy anything
that you desire.
At Mighty Ape we revel in bringing you the guilty pleasure items that you
can't get from just anywhere. A few of the Gorilla's have put our heads
together and provided you with a list of items you may not have bought yet as it

To celebrate the release of the upcoming cookbook Everyday
Delicious we have invited MasterChef winner Chelsea

Like us, you may have come across this video on the internet recently. As lovers of food, we think this
clever marketing campaign is a great way of raising awareness about
food waste.
Intermarché (French supermarket) launched their “Inglorious Fruits &
Vegetables” campaign comprising of a film, print, poster and radio campaign.
The campaign celebrates the beauty of the “Grotesque Apple”, the
“Ridiculous Potato”, the “Hideous Orange”, the “Failed Lemon”, the
“Disfigured Eggplant”, the “Ugly Carrot”, and the “Unfortunate
Clementine”. These fruits and vegetables are normally rejected by supermarkets
and never make it to the shelf. But really, there's nothing wrong with
them – they have the same nutritional value as their better looking
counterparts and consumers are willing to pay for them. Intermarché offered
their “Inglorious Fruits & Vegetables” for 30% less. That's a big
saving on your weekly shop and gives fruits like the “Failed Lemon” a second
chance in life.

Today we moved all products listed for sale on Mighty Mart into a new Food & Drink department on
Mighty Ape.
The existing Mighty Mart site has been closed down and the old
mightymart.co.nz url now redirects to Mighty Ape.
Mighty Mart was a fun site to build and the decision to fold it into Mighty
Ape was not easy. However feedback we've received from customers over and over
is that you want to purchase food and drink products on Mighty Ape, alongside
our other products. Snacks and drinks with your games…popcorn with your
movies, and so on. This change allows us to offer that.
We expect this move will also result in more customers being exposed to our
food and drink products. Mighty Ape gets about 30× more traffic than Mighty
Mart…so folding these products in should result in more customers, more sales
which will in turn put us in a stronger position to negotiate better deals and
more cool products from our food and drink suppliers.
If you've shopped on Mighty Mart – thank you for supporting our new
venture. Your old orders will appear in your Mighty Ape My Account and our CS
monkeys will continue to offer any service that you need.
