Top Albums Releasing This Week!

By Dan

We've got some great new albums dropping this week, so we've compiled a list of some of our most wanted!

1. Cvrches – Every Open Eye

‘Every Open Eye’ is the follow up to the band’s breakthrough debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, which was released in September 2013 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to sell over 500,000 copies worldwide.

Sonically, Every Open Eye develops CHVRCHES’ signature style, juxtaposing the light and the dark, creating their own brand of twisted pop music that uniquely merges the organic with the electronic, moulding sounds and ideas forged over two years on the road into an electronic-pop record with a heart.

2. The Dead Weather – Dodge & Burn

Dodge and Burn is The Dead Weather’s third studio album and features eight brand new songs along with four previously released tracks remixed and remastered.

Born as a one-off collaboration between friends and tour mates, The Dead Weather has since evolved into one of the most vital and provocative bands in contemporary Rock n Roll.

Together Jack White, Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita, and Jack Lawrence have created a dark magic all their own, a heady brew of melding heavy riffs, thick beats, and blues snarl with raw soul power and unrelenting energy!

3. Disclosure – Caracal

Disclosure's Caracal is a muscular and nuanced record, with a depth to it that will pin it to the canon of dance music history. It’s crunchy and gets under your skin. A proper album album, you might say.

“We feel like a band now, instead of just releasing tracks for the club. We wanted to really step out with a solid body of work and tour for two years. We’re very much an album band” says Howard.

The album is loaded with massive features that include The Weeknd, Miguel and Lorde alongside extremely talented newcomers Jordan Rakei and Brendan Reilly.

These guest features sit perfectly alongside ‘Jaded’, ‘Echoes’ and ‘Molocules’ which are written and performed by Howard Lawrence himself.

4. Tami Neilson – Don't Be Afraid

The beginnings of this album were birthed in 1972 by a young Ron Neilson, who recorded a demo of the first single, “Lonely” outside a hotel room while on tour across Canada. Decades later, it was completed by his daughter Tami when she discovered that demo a week after he passed away in Feb 2015. Such are the stories and legacy behind the songs on this very special and powerful tribute by Tami Neilson.

From the opening title track Don’t Be Afraid, the last song her father ever wrote, Tami takes us on her journey of being pulled downward by the weight of loss and mourning, then strikes out into the face of grief with some of the most defiant fierceness we have heard from Tami to date!
