Adult Colouring Q&A: Darcy Turner

By Che

We have picked out a few colourers who submitted entries to our Adult Colouring Competition for a brief Q&A about colouring and their entry.

We've spoken to winner Kimberley Rutgers and Rhiannon Shasta Wood already. Today we speak to Darcy Turner who submitted this impressive entry!

How long have you been doing adult colouring?
I have been colouring since I can remember, growing up drawing and colouring was a way for me too express my feelings and emotions, it's food for the soul. Either it's adult or child colouring books, get the best of both worlds :)

Do you have any art background?
My nana, was a professional painter. She would always be painting or drawing, when ever I visited. I learnt heaps about artwork history from her, got heaps of tips and skills as well! Really got into art class all during my high school years, was best thing about school besides the cooking class :P haha

Which book is this piece from?
This piece is from a friend, I did a long time ago.

How long did it take?
It took me about two weeks, spending a couple hours on it each day.

What pens or pencils did you use?
I used Faber Castell brand colouring & watercolor pencils and felt tip pens.

Any tips or techniques?
Just blending is number one skill, using colours that go together. Don't be afraid to mix and try, layer the colours and expand!

What's your favourite adult colouring book?
Ah, a couple favorites would be Midnight Colouring Book by Richard Meritt and Doodle Invasion by Zifflin & Kerby!!

Anything else you'd like to share with fellow colourers?
Don't give up, keep doing you and express your thoughts through the love of colour ;) Peace!

Thanks for taking the time to share with us Darcy.
