Hobby Spring Cleaning: Don't forget to look after your brushes!

By David

Winter is always a busy time for indoor hobbies and now that spring's here its probably time to start cleaning up your hobby desk. While you're tidying up don't forget that your brushes and airbrushes probably also need some attention after a hard winters painting!

Regular cleaning & maintenance is the key to getting a long life out of your hobby tools and brushes.

We all know that the key to looking after your brushes is to clean them in water or solvent immediately after you finish painting, but even still over time paint residue will build up.

That's when you should reach for Vallejo Brush Cleaner. This is an alcohol based cleaner and is perfect for removing those stubborn paint residues. Simply swirl the brush in the cleaner for a minute or so and then rinse with water.

After time the bristles on your brush will also start to dry out and become brittle, but you can rejuvenate them with some Brush Restorer. Just like a hair conditioner this will soften the bristles and help restore them to their original condition and shape.

For your airbrush there a a wide variety of airbrush cleaning fluids which you simply run through the airbrush to help remove any clogged paint. As they are alcohol or solvent based its best to do this using an Airbrush Cleaning Station as the filters will absorb the paint residue and the jar will trap the cleaning fluid.

We have a great range of Airbrush Cleaning Kits & Supplies in stock to help you maintain your airbrush.

If you've neglected your brushes beyond repair never fear, as we've got a great range available in our brush store, everything from the extreme fine detail Psycho Brush to flat brushes for tanks and terrain.
