Anna Smaill, Aucklander born in 1979, pursued writing with MA in English literature from the Auckland University, released her very first poetry: The Violinist in Spring. She immediately received the attention and was listed as one of the Best Books by New Zealand Listener.
Her first novel: The Chimes has been selected with other 150 books for this year's Man Booker Prize with a chance to win £50,000 literary prize. There are only 3 devut novelists on this year's list including Bill Clegg, Chigozie Obioma and Anna herself. She is currently working on her 2nd novel back in Wellington living with her husband and daughter.
