4 stars "A shooter worth buying..."

I have completed this game on realistic on single player and it was some what enjoyable, although after the first few missions I found myself doing the same things throughout the rest of the game. I did not find this game hard as some of the other people have said but it had its moments where you just could not get past a checkpoint, these moments often made me come back the next day to get past them as I simple couldn't be bothered after the first few retrys. The online experience is probably the best so far on the 360 compared to the other shooters. It has a good variety of maps, guns (which you can also customise) and is a pretty fast pace experience but it doesn't have the clan support like some of the previous RB6's. Less than a handfew of guns also don't seem right, eg some of the shotguns seem too accurate and the Ak47 has got a slow firing rate for some reason. Overall it's a game worth buying on the 360 especially for a good online experience.

3 stars "Dumbed down."

I played the original Rainbow Six years back, but I haven't played any of the others. I seem to remember each mission being preceded by a detailed briefing, a planning phase and team selection phase. This game is nothing like that. It's structured more like a traditional shooter, and there's no story to speak of. The game starts with you in a chopper, your communications officer gives you a quick verbal briefing to simply find and capture a terrorist (Irena Morales), and off you go. As you move through the levels your objective is updated (rendezvous with team, reach a certain location ect) on your way to catching the terrorist. At the end of it you're picked up by the chopper and flown to the next local to continue the mission of finding her. That's as detailed as it ever gets. There's no lead in, there's no background, there's no story. Maybe it carries on directly from the previous game, I don't know.

If you want to check a summary of your mission you open the options menu (lame) and it just says “Find Terrorist” or “Rescue Hostages”. Very basic.

Your search takes you to a Vegas casino that's been taken over by a veritable army of domestic terrorists. While fighting my way in I kept thinking “Who are these guys? What do they want? What are they doing here?” No one bothers to tell you. Just find Morales.

The gameplay is ok but equally uninspired. What I definitely didn't like is the checkpoints are agonisingly far apart. I'm not a fan of the checkpoint system, but I can live with it if they're reasonable. But much of the action is comprised of these very protracted battles, against armies of tangos that take you ages to carefully work through, only to be killed by that one guy you didn't see and have to do it all over again. And again, and again. Mercifully there aren't many hostage situations to worry about and you're free to frag and clear most of the time.

The combat's not as tough as it could be (on Normal). You can take a hit or two and you heal up as long as you get into cover (lame), and the bad guys usually miss when they first open up on you. It's just when you do get killed, having to go back and do the same battles over and over that really tries my patience and seriously diminishes my enjoyment. I find it more stressful than fun. But hey, some people do like that and this game's obviously aimed at that niche. I gave up on it though.

The guns, gadgets, graphics, AI and levels are all find and dandy. But I'd probably enjoy it a bit more if the player character didn't look like a chinless wonder and sound like someone doing a bad George Bush impression.

5 stars "favourite coop game."

the best part is the system link multiplayer co-op up to 4 players with the all the singleplayer missions and the multiplayer missions.
Dont judge this game on previous rainbow six or tom clancy titles. Rent then buy.

5 stars "Amazing and fantastically hard"

I have just rented rainbow six vegas on 360 and the visuals, sound, AI and the whole layout is amazing or just great. It is really hard at some parts which keeps you playing. 5/5.
