After freeroaming much of the city I can say this game is everything Skate one was, times two. No complys, Bonelesses, One Foots, Tripod Cameras and much more new features make this a great addition to the Skate franchise.
Once again, EA made a smart move making this game. Sucks that BlackBox closed though.
It's going to be great, Skate was a truly ground-breaking game and has blown Tony Hawk out of the water, with the absence of getting off your board, it was obvious Skate 2 would bring it in. That and with more tricks, what more could you want? Game of 09 for me: :D
In the words of thrasher magazine yes this game is going to be hella-tight apparently it will feature SOTY-2007 Marc Jonson as well as many more also last I heard you can finally hop off your board! This game is made for skaters by skaters so I'm definitely buying
Peace
This game is Awesome. Very very fun to play (Once you've figured out the controls). Much like the first Skate but with some more added tricks.
You can now get off you're board and move objects so you can nail a perfect line, jump cars.. Whatever you want to do. Only annoying thing is the walking/running. Its hard to get the skater to walk/run straight without veering off in random directions.
Also some of the challenges in this game are very hard to complete.. Which is a good thing i guess but to me some of them are just too gnarly.
HALL OF MEAT!.. You get awards and Points for breaking bones, doing tricks in the air (Whilst Bailing), Air Time, Rotations. This is very fun.
Overall this game is Excellent. So many good features.
Skate 2. Absolutely the best skating SIM by far. The controls, though not
quiet realistic, provide a far better gaming experience than that of the
button-bashing Tony Hawk style.
The game simulates tricks far better than the previous version, and the trick
list has more than doubled to include more street and vert tricks, whilst still
keeping the speed skating key.
It's a great alternitive if you can't get a lift or it's raining to go to the
skate park!
Don't buy this game if you own Skate UNLESS you're a huge Skate fanatic – this game, while a marked improvement, is still fundamentally the same game. The graphics are a bit nicer, the colours pop more, hand plants have been added, and you can move objects.
If you enjoyed Skate, but felt it was missing something, give Skate 2 a
try – it could end up being just what you wanted.
All in all, a solid game.
Skate 2, like it's predecessor, isn't a game for everybody. There is a learning curve involved when you first start playing, and even after you become comfortable with the controls it takes a lot of playing to master them. In addition to this, the challenges found within the single player campaign are daunting for the first-time Skate-er, and sometimes frustrating even to those who know it well. Those complaints aside, however, once you get to know your way around it it's a real joy to play, even as a non-skater. The most fun you'll have is just freely skating around the huge city, finding spots and perfecting your lines. The online is also pretty tight, and can be lots of fun when people aren't exploiting it (hopefully a patch is forthcoming).
All in all highly recommended, but with a warning: this game will bust your balls if you're not prepared. But if you take the time to get past the learning curve, you'll find a truly rewarding (if occasionally infuriating) game which puts very few limits on your creativity or just how good you can become.
Skate 2 is an excellent game it is pretty much the same as the last skate but much more fun. On skate 2 you can get off your skateboard and move ramps and dumpsters to jump over. Its really cool. You can also finger flip and hippy jump on skate 2 is well which is quite fun. Their is new pro skaters on here like danny way and eric koston. On skate 2 their is also the skating brand element which is quite cool
Ok first off awesome game (even thought I've only played the demo) but there seems to bet something different to it, first off you cant pop ollies as high or as fast (might just be me) and second when you move boxes and what not the camera always seems to be at a really annoying angle and as one of the other reviews said the graphics are lacking a bit. But overall its an awesome game that I cant wait to get, and strongly advise you buy if you liked Skate 1.
Just got the demo today. The physics are still awesome, the game-play still rocks, the new added tricks are sweet! Everything runs pretty well but the only let down is the graphics, in most parts there are significant downgrades to the originals graphics, not sure what went wrong but I'm hoping they can polish it up a little bit (Even though it comes out in a couple weeks). If they can clean it up it will definitely be a game to buy as soon as it hits the shelves!
