"Good"
After hearing/reading tons of horror stories (cracked drum pads, snapped bass pedal, horrible guitar strum/whammy) I'm pleased to say after some rigorous playtime that overall the hardware holds up well.
Drums are solid though if you really like to get into songs I'd suggest looking online (eBay) to reinforce the bass pedal as well as support struts for the outer pads. The guitar is probably the worst of the bunch - and while the Guitar Hero controllers (Les Paul/X-plorer/new World Tour guitar) may look more like toys - the Rock Band Strat definately FEELS more like a toy. Though mine hasn't broken it feels like it could break quite easily (quite thin plastic). The action of the guitar is a lot quieter then the Les Paul however most will not like the "mushyness" of the strum bar (I prefer it however as I hate the non-stop clicking of the GH controllers). If your on the cheap and have a GH controller I'd suggest just picking up the drums.

"Great Value"
With the horrible NZ-USD exchange rate it would currently cost around $500 all up (inc shpping) to import Rock Band (instruments from USA, game from UK).
This is definitely they way to go as far as value is concerned.
"Wait for GHWT or Rockband 2"
This was a great game when first released over a two years ago!!
Go get GH:World Tour or wait for Rock Band 2 (which was released in the US in the last few weeks). Both GHWT and Rock Band 2 have new features and better drums (you will notice when you miss the cymbolds). I would only suggest buying this if you were concerned about the cost.

"Amazing"
Having imported Rock Band from the US a couple of months ago, I feel I have played it thoroughly enough to comment on it. This game is amazing. Buy it, you will not regret it. It is MUCH better than Guitar Hero World Tour. And now The Beatles are coming to Rock Band! Woooo!

"BRILLENT BUT PRICEY"
best game ever made but I'm not liking the ideas of price there giving us after being able to play it and knowing how addictive it really is. You could import it for about half the price that it will most likely be in New Zealand and after rockband 2 is released in the states. oh well it will be worth it or just get GH:WT
