Description

Race Driver: GRID will take players to beautifully realised and dramatic race locations over three continents to compete in an unprecedented variety of racing events. Packed with the most powerful race cars - new and classic, circuit and drift - players will compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions, through to road events and urban street races.

In Europe, race gamers will compete on the greatest official tracks in prestige Marques including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani. Iconic cities across the U.S. - including San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit and each with their own atmosphere and events - play hosts to diverse street races. Here, high-performance V8 muscle cars set the pace in aggressive closely fought pack competitions.

In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads. There is also the opportunity to compete in races that operate on the fringes of legality in the back streets and industrial areas of Yokohama.

4 stars "Better than Need for Speed?"
If you want hard and fast driving with an awesome range of race types this is the game for you. If you are sick of the repeat Need For Speed saga give this game a go. The best racing game I have played hands down.

5 stars "Excellent"
Excellent, excellent game.

First off, it has been rated as DiRT with no...dirt.

But it really is great, the career mode is a bit more interactive and lively but follows the same sort of pattern.

The graphics are truly STUNNING. If you're someone who misses plentiful amounts of smoke, you'll love GRID. The amount of smoke when doing a burnout/drifting or spinning out is awesome. Makes drifting feel that much more real.

The handling can be quite hard but once you get used to it it becomes second nature. Online play is great, from Touring Car tournaments to a freestyle drift session around several blocks with a bunch of mates.

MUST BUY!

4 stars "RD:GRID = Drift Nirvana!"
After downloading the Demo via Xbox Live Marketplace a couple of days ago, I am really looking forward to Race Driver: GRID coming in a couple of months. I completed a couple of races each of the Circuit Race in the BMW and the street race in the Dodge and loved them both. However, it's the Drifting that has me sold. The drift physics and smoke effects are amazing! Couple that with the awesome damage model and general handling physics and you have a top notch game. Graphics are tip top too!

I'm going to download the PS3 demo for it, and compare the two before I decide what system to get it on. However, Xbox360's achievements and superior online service have me more or less decided.

Regardless of what format you'll be playing it on, this game will be well worth the expense.
