"Mean graphics but not enough space"
This is pretty much like Pro Street in the way that you have to stay inside a track, which isn't my idea of a great game with 'boy racer' cars in it. Although I do like the cars you can get in it and the graphics are mean. Carbon is still my favorites of the NFS series. I still reckon its worth the money.
"One step sideways, one massive step forward"
The Need for Speed series of late has been a bit hit and miss.
Shift sees a return to form for the series. Moving towards a more simulation feel, Shift firmly makes you feel part of the car and really conveys the racing experience. Shift has an excellent line up of cars and tracks, including favourites like the Nurburgring and Silverstone. Excellent sound effects and graphics make this feel like no other racing game. Tyres scream like banshees, the in-car dashboard blurs at high speeds and colour drains from the screen as the inevitable crashes happen. Not enough can be said about the in-car view point. I have used an external camera in every racing game I have ever played but Shift is the first racer I actually want to use in-car. Even though this may results in worse driving! The detail in the cockpits is extremely impressive and again really grounds you in the game. Overall this is a great a game and any fan of racers will really enjoy it. So get a steering wheel, crank up the 5.1 and get ready to feel as close to driving a Bugatti Veyron as you will ever get.

"Can't wait!"
I'm more into racing simulation rather than acarde type racing and SHIFT is exactly that. The graphics and the realism are stunning!! I can't wait to get my hands on it. Although this is a slight deviation from the "usual" NFS style of gameplay, for me this is a change for the better.
