We all know it, FF13 has been done to death and well, what can you expect
from three- A brand new game mechanic… A timer to be precise, they weren't
lying about having thirteen days to save the world! The game is heavily focused
on side quests which allow you to extend the time left before the world ends and
it becomes a little self propelling, you spend time, precious time doing side
quests, to extend the time you have for main quests, its seems rather silly, but
it was all done to immerse you in the universe, except the timer actually
distances you from the game, it makes you feel anxious, it's no longer a fun
rpg where you can wander around and find out about the game world at your own
pace, you are forced by the horrendous tick tick tick of the clock and its
really not enjoyable for me, I can't imagine how it would effect someone with
anxiety issues. With such a time dependent game, you would expect the main quest
lines to present themselves fairly obviously, which is not always the case, the
struggle to find how to trigger the next quest sequence at one point got me so
frustrated at the complete waste of a whole in game day, I just stopped playing
and since have had no desire to pick it back up, the allure of finding out the
end of the game (which is what convinced me to buy it in the first place) isn't
even enough to make me start playing. The fact that you are forced to RUSH an
rpg makes the game seem so pointless and illogical, its really disappointing,
the ol dress up for battle is an interesting mechanic that seems to work well
enough, with plenty of variation, a lot of the monsters you will remember from
the first two of the 13 series and there are some interesting characters, that
unfortunately (again due to time constraints) didn't have as much depth or
development as one would expect from final fantasy characters. The triple atb
gauge and semi mobile character made combat much more enjoyable than 13–2 in
my opinion, the one thing I did enjoy was the much more immersive combat
system, however you quickly work out that it servers little to no actual purpose
and as such is seen as an unnecessary waste of which makes it another key aspect
of an rpg I found myself ignoring for sake of completing everything in the
limited time I felt I had.
