Far Cry 2 is an epic game, the landscape is gorgeous, the guns are realistic, the missions are exciting and its a difficult game.
A must buy!
Awesome game, I am about 70% done and haven't got sick of it!
highly recommended!
This game is the whizz. Not only is the landscape beautifully set-up but the realism of the game shines through. I was recommended the game by a friend and only managed to get it for Christmas but once I had it I dropped everything else and lepta upon this game. The jamming of guns and the malaria fits can become annoyed when in the heat of battle but you jut have to take a different approach instead of all guns blazing.
The campaign seems to go on and on and after 3 weeks of owning it im still only 54% done. Truly this game is god and no wonder it was in the top 3 aussie charts alongside Fallout 3 and Fable 2.
Brilliant, magnificent, highly recommended. Love this game and always will.
Far Cry 2 was the game I looked forward to the most for 2008, not only because its the official sequel to the Far Cry series, but also because the hero wasn't going to end up with super powers like #1.
For a start off, the scenery of Far Cry 2 is truly the games star – set in a beautiful area of Africa, every tree, hill, hut and patch of grass is locally to run/drive through, especially with the games amazing fire spreading system.
Firefights on Far Cry 2 are very fun, because of the realism, and intensity, and heaving to pull bullets out of your skin when shot, or put out a fire that spread up your arm once your health reaches a certain amount is great.
But, there are two flaws in this game. One is the dialouge. The speaking in this game is very, very fast – the characters all seem to talk as if they're late for a conference call, rushing each word and never taking breathes. The other flaw is the replayability – although it is fun to play through again, you just honestly cant be bothered – having to wait a long time before missions get interesting, and having to bare with the horrible weapons you begin with.
‘Good, but not perfect’.
great landscapes awesome gameplay, I highly recommend this game!
I got this game in 2012 and it's one of the most realistic first person shooter games I have ever played, about 20 hours solo game-play I highly recommend buying.
Bring on FarCry 3 it must be sick!
Its abit slow as the story goes with no real plot but the gameplay is good!
Far Cry 2 is an awesome open world game with an African backdrop. It looks gorgeous and everything has a great attention to realistic detail. Out of all the open world games available this has the best feeling FPS gameplay. It controls and plays just like the best shooters on the market, like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Highly recommended.
Its a great game, it really puts you in the heart of the game. The only dissappointment was it has nothing to do with the original farcry. No mutants or anything. But it is pretty epic and realistic
This game is nothing like the 1st so do not be fooled by the title in this “Farcry 2” you get to choose who youi want to be at the start from a decent amount of characters. The game itslef is set in a very stunning “Africaian” setting full of detailed graphics and very cool fire effects.
The use of weapons is also very cool, picking up guns and amo from any of the dead to use as your own.
One thing i truly loved about this game was the fact that you can sneak into
a enemy's camp and fire off a couple rounds killing the enemy, then lay low for
a bit and wait while you hear the enemy searching for you talking to each other.
This being cool as you can even hear fear in there voices as they do not know
who's attacking them. Also this apeals to me as in most 1st person shooters
when you open fire thats it no turning back the enemy pinpoints you instantly
and you gotta fire your way out
But with “Farcry 2” you have the chance of just laying low till the enemy
basicly relax a bit and lower there aleart.
The speech in the game is actualy very fast, sometimes its like they have just had 30 energy drinks and dont seem to take a breath at all. It's kind of funny tho but you are able to understand what they are saying so its not a bad thing at all just thought i best mention it.
All up this game is great and for the price ya can not go wrong and its and open world based game were you can rome anywere.
I do advise people to buy this game as it is fun also challenging in some places.
I got this on xmas 2008 and still not board with it, i have finished it many times over and yet can still keep playing, it has so much to do(save when it says no going back) but and then knock difficulty up to infamous for a real challenge and whole lot of fun, must buy!! one of best shooters on xbox360 but far.
ok so first off this game has soooo much free roaming space (50km i think) but of course this has a downside. you can spend far too long trying to get back to one place (of course you can take the bus but then you loose your car)
upgardeable weapons . about time. who doesnt love a game where you can upgrade your wepons. for better slaughtering power! oh the flame thrower who doesnt love it.
the game has real gun issues:
the guns jam and break. just like in real life adding an extra little bit of fun to the game.
all in all this is a pretty great game. i advise people to buy it!
but hay the guy drives while looking at a map… pretty dangerous
Good voice acting and excellent sound effects make the sound in Far Cry 2 enjoyable, despite a lacking soundtrack that oddly seems understated and even out of place in certain situations. For whatever reason, the music didn't live up to expectations although that's more of a personal gripe. The effects, on the other hand, are spot-on. The resounding crack of a handgun, the shocking impact of the rocket launcher, the resonation of bullets on different objects in the background, the yells of the attacking opponents; it all gels together in a clear, stand-out performance.
When I started this I thought it was gonna get a little boring but was pleasantly surprised. The AI of the bad guys is probably the best i had seen for a while, unpredictable and when played on hard are pretty good at picking you off. The whole scenario is a nice change from the usual shoot em up war epics. The game has really nice environmental effects and the variety of weapons is large enough to keep you trying new things. The driving is not as good as it could be and the variety of boats could have been explored. Slowely improving the Base camps with ammo and vehicle upgrades was nice and something to work towards. Over all I reckon its a solid game worth putting some time into.
First off, this is not a sequel to Far Cry. It has nothing to do with Far Cry at all and doesn't resemble it in the slightest. One assumes Ubisoft just used the name in the hopes of capitalising on Far Cry's success. If that's the case it was a dumb idea because people will inevitably compare it to Far Cry instead of judging it on its own merits. And they are apt to be disappointed.
Any FPS that deviates from the stale and boring shoot-your-way-to-the-end-of-the-level formula deserves some credit. And this is one of the very few truly mission based shooters I've played. So there's that. But beyond that I have to say it's a pretty mediocre game. And it's compromised further by some extremely questionable gameplay decisions, most notably the respawn.
The game takes place in a large open territory (a war torn country in Africa), and missions take you from one end of it to the other. You get around mostly by driving one of the many cars or pickup trucks that you can find just laying about the place. But as you drive around you constantly have to fight your way past road blocks and other installations manned by mercenaries and militiamen who, once killed, respawn in as little as a few minutes. There seems to be a road block every couple of hundred meters, so you have to stop, shoot all the bad guys, get out and repair your vehicle (if it didn't get destroyed completely) and heal yourself before you can continue on your way. And you have to do this CONSTANTLY, over and over and over and over. Some of them are just a couple of guys manning a checkpoint and you can just blast past them, but some are heavily fortified and require you to mount a full on assault just to get past. And then do it again on your way back!
Not only that, but the roads are patrolled by machinegun armed pickup trucks that attack you on sight, always in the same way, crashing into you like maniacs and blasting away with machine guns. So between them and the road blocks you can expect to have to go through the whole stop-fight-repair-heal-proceed routine every couple of minutes. All this makes getting around the map a HUGE headache and is the single biggest flaw with the game. It makes you wonder what the designers were smoking that made them think this would be a good idea, or in any way approaching fun. It's that bad! They probably thought it would be too boring driving around if they didn't do this, and I wouldn't have minded some degree of respawning, but surely they could have come up with something better than just everyone respawns every ten minutes! There are bus stops that you can use to fast travel around the map and avoid this but they don't go to enough destinations. You can also travel by river but even then there are guard posts and gun boats that make river travel just as aggravating as going by road. By the second half of the game when I reached the new region this all got so tedious, frustrating and difficult that I literally couldn't cope with it anymore. I had to start taking the bus and walking miles across country just to avoid the road blocks and patrols.
Adding to the frustration is the inability to save your game where you want. You have to rest at safe houses, or use a save point in gun shops and militia headquarters. There are lots of these places so it's not too bad, but personally I would have preferred to be able to save where I want.
The game world is huge and picturesque, the landscaping is gorgeous actually, but I found it somewhat… empty. All the civilians have fled the fighting so the only people left are mercs and militiamen, who are hostile to you in nearly every location. There are no civilians going about their day, or characters here and there that you might bump into and talk to. With the exception of quest givers and a few mission critical characters every person you see out there in the countryside is hostile to you. Anyone you see you can kill without a second thought. You don't ask yourself who he is or what he's doing or what faction he belongs to. If you see someone, anyone, just blow his head off.
The missions are fairly repetitive. No matter what the objective is (retrieve an item or assassinate someone) 99% of them simply require you to assault some camp or installation and fight your way through about thirty guys. The missions are all marked on your map so you never need to explore to find missions (or anything for that matter) which is a shame given the beautiful countryside the game takes place in.
Aside from these and some realism issues (generic ammo that fits any gun, storage crates that magically link to any other storage crate in any location, vehicles constantly respawning in the same spot, respawning ammo piles), it's not a bad game. It's just not that great. If they had added a bit more to the game to make it more rewarding and immersive, and removed a few things that make it unnecessarily aggravating they may have had something pretty special. As it is its barely playable.
The game is very cool in some ways, it's lengthy and has a decent plot. But I think they could have done so much more with it. And the atrocious respawn just grinds you down. If you have a PC that can handle it I would recommend getting the PC version and looking into some mods. You can also save your game where you want with the PC version via the console. That and a mod to fix the respawn should make the game a whole lot more enjoyable.
I got way to hyped up over this game and now in hindsight, i see it was
only because of the map editor. Online game play is great only because of the
map editor and even then, only in unranked games.
Where as the campaign, leaves alot to be desired. All the missions for the Arms
Dealers are exactly the same, go here destroy these trucks and I'll give you
more guns. The whole game is repetitive, pretty much a case of go, here kill
some guys and you get diamonds all in the hope of stumbling across an audio tape
of the elusive “Jackal”, just to do it all again 5 minutes later.
But I must admit that it is occasionally a welcome relief from constant
slaughter in games like COD4 multiplayer.
This game is a giant handful of fun, its awesome as driving around in your jeep doing missions, getting maleria, finding diamond briefcases etc. this is the best shooter i have ever played its a shooter and it is quite adventurous too. Also it is a challenge which makes it fun its quite funny because there are swamps with lakes behind them and there are these funny as crappy boats to race round in its fun. And the best part is you can create your map which you can make your own adventure. Make lakes, mountains put cares their and their, put houses their its fun highly recommended. PRICE HAS DROPPED TO BUY IT!
