Description

Caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa, you are sent to take out "The Jackal", a mysterious character who has rekindled the conflict between the warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralise their superior numbers and firepower with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.

Features:
  • DUNIA ENGINE The Dunia Engine was built specifically for Far Cry 2 by the award-winning Ubisoft Montréal development team. It delivers the most realistic destructible environments, amazing special effects such as dynamic fire propagation and storm effects, real-time night-and-day cycle, dynamic music system, non-scripted enemy A.I. and so much more…
  • REAL-TIME IMMERSION Real-time story telling, systemic auto-healing, minimal in-game interface are just few of the features that will make you feel the tension of being alone against barbarous warlords that threaten thousands of innocent lives.
  • WEAPONS OF CHOICE Choose from a wide range of weapons to make your way to your primary target. Meet the fight head-on with your machine-gun, go berserk with your machete or make stealth kills as a Sniper. If you feel that the atmosphere is not warm enough, light up your flamethrower and let your enemies and everything around them feel the heat.

5 stars "An epic landscape with biting realism"
Far Cry 2 is an epic game, the landscape is gorgeous, the guns are realistic, the missions are exciting and its a difficult game.

A must buy!

5 stars "Ultimate"
This game is the whizz. Not only is the landscape beautifully set-up but the realism of the game shines through. I was recommended the game by a friend and only managed to get it for Christmas but once I had it I dropped everything else and lepta upon this game. The jamming of guns and the malaria fits can become annoyed when in the heat of battle but you jut have to take a different approach instead of all guns blazing.

The campaign seems to go on and on and after 3 weeks of owning it im still only 54% done. Truly this game is god and no wonder it was in the top 3 aussie charts alongside Fallout 3 and Fable 2.

Brilliant, magnificent, highly recommended. Love this game and always will.

4 stars "Great, but not perfect"
Far Cry 2 was the game I looked forward to the most for 2008, not only because its the official sequel to the Far Cry series, but also because the hero wasn't going to end up with super powers like #1.

For a start off, the scenery of Far Cry 2 is truly the games star - set in a beautiful area of Africa, every tree, hill, hut and patch of grass is locally to run/drive through, especially with the games amazing fire spreading system.

Firefights on Far Cry 2 are very fun, because of the realism, and intensity, and heaving to pull bullets out of your skin when shot, or put out a fire that spread up your arm once your health reaches a certain amount is great.

But, there are two flaws in this game. One is the dialouge. The speaking in this game is very, very fast - the characters all seem to talk as if they're late for a conference call, rushing each word and never taking breathes. The other flaw is the replayability - although it is fun to play through again, you just honestly cant be bothered - having to wait a long time before missions get interesting, and having to bare with the horrible weapons you begin with.

'Good, but not perfect'.
