Be careful not to buy into the hype with this one. If you're looking for a
game that's more of a fun sandbox than a deep RPG experience, you'll be
incredibly happy. But if you want more meat on the bones than a casual gamer,
then the fun but easy combat (you can't actually die in the game), the
frustratingly obtuse map&inventory layout (in fact there's no actual world
map and your inventory menu is incredibly cluttered), and the flawed
clothing/stats system (there's no armour, just suits/clothes, and you'll end up
just choosing the ones with good stats, meaning you often look really
ridiculous), means veteran RPG'ers may be left unimpressed.
Add to this the ultimately boring and repetitive jobs minigames (apart from
bounty hunting), and the entertaining but flawed social system (NPCs always have
info about what expression you should use in order to win their favour, which
makes the expression system all too transparent; also having a wife is more of a
nag than a perk), and there may be enough niggles here to mute some
enthusiasm.
However, you may find that the positives outweigh these more gamer-oriented
dissatisfactions – the vibrant world, the humour, the ability to purchase
basically every building and business, and the cute gimmick of the trainable
dog – and if so Fable 2 should entertain, if not fully satisfy.
This game will work out to be one of your better purchases this year, simply because Lionhead have crammed so darn much into the game.
There are seemingly unlimited numbers of side quests, and then the main quests all blend together amazingly well.
You will find yourself playing for hours on end, mainly because I found this game has the best combat system of any RPG so far.
The spells, weapons, and items come in great variety and you will heavily enjoy fighting the numerous types of enemies.
To the reviewer who said “I hope I have a boss battle soon because..” well, trust me, there are some good bosses that appear rarely enough to make them more enjoyable.
A fairly decent story, a brilliant world that feels so “real life”, and some stunning graphics (at times)
My main complaint is that the co-op is rubbish, and also the camera occasionally has issues. Another problem is that the game is always requiring certain points as well as Gold (money) in order for you to continue on the main quest, as well as other prerequisites therefore putting barriers in the game, which shouldn't really be there.
Overall, Fable II is a great RPG that will have you coming back for more. The way that so much of the game boils down to the choices YOU make, you may even want to replay again, and make different choices the second time (be Bad instead of Good, for example) The graphics are pretty average, but there are some great landscapes.
There is just so much to be found and done in this game. It is therefore great value and I'd score it a 9/10, deserving 5 stars and is definitely in the top 10 games that will come out this year.
A good game, but hardly changes the meaning of RPG. More so, Fable has managed to redefine the action-RPG genre, making it more accessible and allowing Molyneux to hit much wider markets. Genius but still lacking. This said even hardcore RPG fans will still manage to get drawn into the world of Albion again, atleast… untill Fallout comes out.
Fable 1 for the original Xbox was a great hit, but it had its flaws much like its sequel Fable 2. Fable 2 is set 500 years in the future from its Predecessor and makes up for lost time with great game-play, visuals and audio. Its a truly marvelous game, but it does have its flaws such as long load times and a few glitches and bugs, but dont let that put you off- its still a great game filled with hours of fun. So if you don't mind a few visual hiccups and enjoy fun filled hours of gameplay I recommend this game to you. You wont regret it.
Fable 2 is a awesome role playing game made by Lion-Head Studios The main storyline is around 10 hours (a tad short) but there's alot to do after its completion. The graphics are absolutely stunning and are unlike any other RGP. The combat and co-op systems are excellent (although online co-op is very bad.) Fable 2 proves to be a worthy sequel to a great xbox game and with downloadable content add ons just around the corner its worth a try.
So if your into rpg's with great graphics and gameplay give it a try.
